Job description

A rare and exciting opportunity has come available for a forward thinking dental Nurse to join The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital. A post of 34 hours per week is available. The dental nurse will work along side and support, Orthodontic consultant, Maxillofacial consultants, DCT's, Orthodontic therapists and Hygienists. This role may not qualify for sponsorship if you do not meet the new rules set by the Home Office from July 2025. Please see the link attached.

Responsibilities
  • To support an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and development of high levels of clinical skills.
  • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Participate in team building/communication, to develop and consolidate a cohesive and supportive team.
  • To communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relative/carers, nurse colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is delivered in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Receives sensitive information concerning patient's medical condition. Deal with nervous/ anxious patients.
  • Identify, discuss and report any relevant nursing/patient needs with team/ ward staff, patients.
  • Work in partnership with the patient and family and other health care professionals in care delivery.
  • Provide support and advice to patients and relatives when faced with distressing situations.
  • Accept responsibility; be aware and able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and able to adhere to both by self and colleagues.
  • To have good communication skills both verbally, formal documentation and electronic (I.T.) sources with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
  • Maintain accurate and legible records of patient care in line with Trust policies.
  • Adhere to Trust policies pertaining to patient confidentiality/ the Data Protection Act/ Caldicott Recommendations.
