We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic to join our friendly and dedicated team in the Cellular Pathology Department. You should be a good team worker with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to prioritise tasks. Effective communication is essential. You should have a methodical and organised approach to work and be able to work under your own initiative once fully trained.
Must hold Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
Provide a high-quality, reliable, and efficient cellular pathology diagnostic service for patients.
Work in a laboratory setting adhering to quality standards such as UKAS ISO 15189.

Significant investment has been utilised over the previous year to advance technologies such as Vantage tracking, SMART automation, Digital Pathology and a new LIMS. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of these advances within Cellular Pathology.
The post will be based in the Cellular Pathology Department at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Stoke-On-Trent.
To be an efficient and flexible member of the laboratory team providing a high-quality diagnostic service through specialist scientific and technical activities; handle specimen receipt, booking in, tissue transfer, perform tissue embedding, microtomy (cutting sections), frozen sections, operate and monitor automated immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special diagnostic procedures.
To provide specialist advice to clinicians (and to other laboratory users).
To work within the written Policies and Procedures of the Department and maintain quality control (QC) standards.
Perform equipment maintenance and follow strict health and safety policies.
To maintain competence to practice and to improve professional expertise through engagement in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
To supervise team members; providing training and problem solving for specialist equipment.
Assist BMS staff with specimen dissection preparation.
