Job summary

Matalan invites aspiring merchandisers to join our Trainee Assistant Merchandiser programme. You will support our Assistant Merchandisers to optimize product availability, sales and profitability across the product life cycle.

You’ll work within our Product & Stock Placement teams, helping manage stock flow from sign-off through to end of life, ensuring smooth communication and effective stock systems. We’ll provide comprehensive training and development so you can grow with us; a focus on

What to Expect at the Assessment Centre

The session will last approximately 3–4 hours and will include:

• A Group Activity
• A Presentation based on a pre-set brief

As a Trainee Assistant Merchandiser, you'll play a key role in supporting our Assistant Merchandisers to optimize product availability, sales, and profitability. You'll work within our Product & Stock Placement teams, ensuring efficient stock flow through the supply chain—from product signoff to the end of the product life cycle.
