Job summary

AXA UK is seeking a Regional Underwriting Manager to drive underwriting leadership and strategic direction across regional branches in the North region. You will support Underwriting Managers in complex decisions and ensure financial objectives are exceeded.

You will shape underwriting structure, culture, and capabilities, engaging with broker and client leadership at Director and CEO levels to unlock growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Deep technical underwriting expertise across commercial classes and trade sectors.
• Proven ability to lead and influence senior technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of the insurance market, especially commercial lines, and broker management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical expert and authority holder within AXA Commercial regional business.
• Oversee the regional referral process to deliver regional targets and pricing strength.
• Contribute to the technical underwriting plan and alignment with segmentation strategy.
• Shape underwriting philosophy and strategy in collaboration with leadership.
• Lead tenders and deals to meet operating ratio and profitability objectives.
• Set and monitor underwriting standards, oversee training and quality controls.
• Support audit and governance processes and drive continuous improvement.
