Regional Operations Manager Southern

Location: Swanley Kent

Sectors: Rail Civils & Buildings Infrastructure Projects

About the Role

We are a nationally recognised contractor delivering excellence in transport and infrastructure engineering across rail highways and environmental projects. As Regional Operations Manager you will report directly to the Regional Operations Director and take ownership of the Southern portfolio leading teams driving operational excellence and shaping sustainable growth.

This is a senior leadership role with influence across strategy delivery and client engagement. You’ll be the visible face of AmcoGiffen in the region ensuring projects are delivered safely profitably and to the highest standards.

Key Accountabilities
Leadership & Strategy
  • Champion a culture of safety integrity and high performance.
  • Represent the business with authority and credibility to clients, stakeholders and partners.
  • Shape and deliver regional growth plans, budgets and long‑term forecasts.
  • Identify and progress new business opportunities in line with strategic objectives.
Project & Operational Delivery
  • Oversee multiple contracts ensuring delivery to time, cost, quality and SHEQ standards.
  • Support pre‑contract activities including tendering, estimating and bid development.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Drive commercial performance forecasting and risk management in collaboration with commercial teams.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong trust‑based relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure client priorities are understood, managed and delivered.
  • Promote the company’s capabilities and expand networks to support business development.
People & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
  • Allocate responsibilities effectively ensuring clarity and accountability.
  • Provide training, coaching and development opportunities to build capability.
  • Foster an inclusive collaborative and high‑performing culture.
Commercial & Contract Management
  • Ensure subcontractors are engaged in line with company procedures and commercial expectations.
  • Authorise subcontractor orders and oversee contract negotiations.
  • Monitor cash flow, WIP and change management across projects to protect profitability.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Significant leadership experience in civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Degree in engineering or related discipline (Bachelors or higher).
  • Chartered status (CEng, MICE or FICE) desirable.
  • Proven track record in managing complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking with demonstrable experience of pre‑contract activity and business development success.
