We’re proud to have achieved Great Place To Work status for three years running - and to be recognised among the UK's Best Workplaces in Manufacturing, Production & Transportation. But it's about so much more than badges to us, it's about being recognised by our people for the continuous work we do to do better for them.

About Our Opportunity

As EMR continues to grow and evolve, we’re looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Regional Maintenance Manager to lead the development and delivery of our Mobile and Fixed Plant strategy across the UK. Based in Swindon and reporting to the Head of Site Services, this is a pivotal leadership role within our Site Services Management Team. You’ll be joining a business with a proud industrial heritage that's evolving fast—investing in innovation, driving efficiency, and setting new standards in safety and sustainability. In this role, you’ll play a key part in that transformation—ensuring our maintenance operations are robust, cost‑effective, and aligned with EMR’s long‑term goals. From embedding preventative maintenance strategies to optimising plant performance through smarter systems and data‑driven insights, you’ll have the opportunity to shape how we maintain our assets for the future. Most importantly, you’ll lead and develop a team of highly skilled mobile and fixed plant fitters—fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you’ll take ownership of maintenance performance across the region—ensuring our people, processes, and equipment are working at their best every day:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of mobile and fixed plant fitters to deliver effective planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites.
  • Oversee the operational efficiency and reliability of Mobile and Fixed Plant equipment, maximising availability and performance.
  • Deliver major maintenance projects and strategic initiatives safely, cost‑effectively, and within agreed timelines.
  • Implement and maintain maintenance systems and strategies, including CMMS, to improve visibility, consistency, and performance tracking.
  • Conduct site audits and ensure full compliance with EMR’s safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards.
  • Provide expert mechanical and technical support, including diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues.
  • Ensure all statutory maintenance and inspections are completed to the highest standards.
  • Oversee warranty claims, repairs, and servicing to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement across maintenance operations—reducing downtime, enhancing safety, and increasing asset lifespan.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Mobile and Fixed Plant across EMR, supporting standardisation and best practice sharing across regions.
About You

You’ll bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership ability, and strategic thinking‑someone who thrives in a fast‑paced industrial environment and knows how to get the best out of people and equipment alike.

  • Has significant experience in maintenance management within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or recycling environment.
  • Possesses a recognised engineering qualification or has a strong time‑served maintenance background.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience leading multi‑site or regional teams.
  • Is confident managing maintenance budgets, suppliers, and external contractors.
  • Has hands‑on experience implementing and managing CMMS or other maintenance systems.
  • Is highly organised, analytical, and driven by data and performance metrics.
