Job Title: Regional Liaison Engineer

We’re looking for a Regional Liaison Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in connecting Wastewater Treatment Operations with Capital Delivery. This is a unique opportunity to influence the design and delivery of major infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet operational needs and deliver long-term value.
Key Purpose
As a Regional Liaison Engineer, you’ll act as the operational voice throughout the lifecycle of complex, high-value wastewater treatment projects. You’ll ensure that designs are practical, resilient, and aligned with our strategic goals, supporting seamless integration into live operations and long-term asset performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Champion operational requirements from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
- Review and influence engineering designs to ensure they are operable, maintainable, and cost-effective.
- Provide expert input during detailed design and commissioning phases.
- Ensure safety-critical processes such as Safe Control of Operations (SCO) are planned and compliant.
- Collaborate with site teams to support mobilisation, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Facilitate smooth project handovers, ensuring operational teams are fully prepared and confident.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment processes.
- Proven experience in operational or project delivery roles within the water industry.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Practical experience with commissioning and operational handover.
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering. Or equivalent experience.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation (desirable).
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to hit the ground running, with a strategic mindset and a personable, adaptable approach.
- A full UK driving license is essential, as regular travel to operational sites is required.
- Participation in a call-out rota may be required.

Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week. Participation in a call-out rota may be required.
Southern Water operate a hybrid approach to working between the office location, site, and home.
