Our client, a leading main contractor, is seeking an experienced Regional Health & Safety Manager to oversee safety across projects in the North East and Yorkshire. This is a senior, hands–on role, ideal for a safety professional looking to make a tangible impact across multiple sites and ensure that health and safety remains at the forefront of all operations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the regional safety culture, influence operational decision–making, and work closely with senior leadership to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and implement the regional health & safety strategy, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Provide expert guidance to project teams, site management, and subcontractors, fostering a culture of proactive risk management.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure robust mitigation measures are in place.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring lessons learned are effectively communicated and embedded across all projects.
  • Support training and development initiatives, maintaining and enhancing workforce competency in health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Collaborate with senior management to influence operational decision‑making, promoting innovative solutions to improve safety performance and operational efficiency.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a senior health & safety role within large–scale construction, ideally within a tier 1 contracting environment. They will have strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM regulations, and industry best practice, combined with excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of influencing at all levels. The role requires the ability to travel across the North East and Yorkshire to support multiple sites. Relevant professional qualifications, such as a NEBOSH Diploma or IOSH, are essential.
