Job summary

Panda is seeking a Regional Haulage Operations Manager to lead our articulated transport operation across Leeds and Quarrington, with regional travel. You’ll manage a substantial fleet, a network of subcontracted hauliers and a team of drivers and supervisors to deliver safe, compliant service and strong performance.

You’ll optimise vehicle utilisation, monitor costs, develop your people and lead safety investigations, audits and risk assessments, while keeping to Operator Licence obligations

Qualifications

• Experience leading a large articulated haulage operation.
• Experience leading transport teams across multiple sites or operating centres.
• Knowledge of Operator Licence obligations and road transport compliance.
• Experience managing subcontracted hauliers and employed drivers.
• Track record of improving safety, service, fleet utilisation and costs.
• Experience managing operational budgets and contributing to P&L.
• Practical, people-focused leadership and problem solving.
• National Transport Manager CPC and full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day haulage operations across Leeds and Quarrington.
• Plan drivers, vehicles, trailers and subcontracted capacity to meet demand.
• Maintain compliance with Operator Licence, DVSA, drivers’ hours and tachograph rules.
• Work with fleet and workshop teams to ensure vehicle availability.
• Manage approved subcontracted hauliers and monitor costs and performance.
• Monitor vehicle utilisation, fuel, telematics and service levels.
• Lead safety investigations and ensure corrective actions.
• Oversee inspections, audits, risk assessments and safe procedures.
• Lead and develop a large team with clear safety and performance expectations.
• Manage budgets covering labour, fuel, subcontractors, fleet and maintenance.
• Aim to improve productivity and profitability and support growth.
