Job summary

IPS, part of the Culina Group, invites applications for a Regional Engineer covering the Midlands region. You will lead preventative maintenance, diagnose faults on production machinery, and implement improvements to reduce costs and boost plant efficiency.

You will work with operations to prioritise workload for output and quality, supporting a collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in a food factory environment would be advantageous.
• Apprenticeship in manufacturing/packing is desirable.
• Basic computer literacy is required.
• Ability to communicate and motivate others essential; understand health and safety requirements.
• Self-driven, results-oriented with a focus on deadlines; flexibility for overtime during busy periods.
• Ability to work under pressure and liaise with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Own specific jobs/projects through to completion.
• Fault diagnosis leading to root-cause resolution on production machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance per plan.
• Complete risk assessments to ensure safe operation of equipment.
• Identify and report stock/spares issues.
• Liaise with production on plant outages to minimise downtime.
• Prioritise workload to optimise output, quality and line efficiency.
• Identify improvements to increase line/machinery efficiencies.
• Complete line checks and documentation as required.
• Assist in training new starters and act as a role model for best practice.
• Monitor, control and minimise waste; participate in continuous improvement.
• Engage in PDP program and drive personal development; become specialist for machinery knowledge.
• Manage output of assigned production and address issues promptly.

Job Description

IPS have a wonderful opportunity to join the team as a Regional Engineer. In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality outcomes, supporting day-to-day operations, and contributing to a positive and collaborative working environment. You’ll thrive on variety, take ownership of your work, and bring energy and ideas to the team. You will ensure the implementation of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks and improvements across the Midlands Region, and provide solutions to reduce costs and improve plant efficiencies.

Key responsibilities of a Regional Engineer

• Ownership of specific jobs/projects through to successful completion
• Perform fault diagnosis leading to resolution of random failures on production machinery, identifying root cause in repair process
• Carrying out planned maintenance tasks as part of a preventative maintenance strategy
• Complete risk assessments/method statements to ensure safe running of all factory equipment and processes
• Identify and report all stock /spares issues
• Liaise with production on plant outages to ensure minimum downtime of production equipment
• Prioritise own work load with consideration to output, product quality and line efficiency
• Proactive approach to identify improvements to increase line and machinery efficiencies
• Complete all line checks and documentation as required
• To assist in the training and development of new starters
• To act as a role model for best practice
• Monitor, control and minimise waste
• Play an active part in continuous improvement
• To participate in the companys PDP program
• To act as specialist for machinery knowledge
• Drive own personal development through training and work based experience
• Manage the output of assigned production and effectively deal with issues as and when they arise.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a food factory environment would be advantageous
• Fully complete apprenticeship is desirable, with packing experience
• Basic computer literacy.
• Able to communicate and motivate others is an essential part of the role. Understanding of internal systems and processes, with the ability to work within these parameters. An understanding of health and safety requirements is essential.
• Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive disposition, and a clear focus on meeting deadlines. Must be flexible in approach to work and undertake overtime during busy periods when required
• Management Ability -The post holder must be able to work under pressure both as part of a team and on own initiative. Must also be able to communicate effectively to ensure the smooth running of the department. Must be able to make own decisions and liaise with other department colleagues and/or departments.
