NFU Mutual is seeking a Regional Development Underwriter to drive growth in the North West’s mid-market commercial business, including property and liability. The role is homebased, with travel 2–3 days per week to client sites across the North West, and requires strong underwriting expertise and relationship management.

Qualifications

• Property & Liability commercial underwriting experience within the mid-market space.
• Proven ability to build and manage relationships.
• Confident communicator with experience leading discussions and decisions with integrity.
• Development underwriting experience and proven business development (desirable).
• Dip CII or equivalent qualification (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new business and drive gross written premium across mid‑market commercial including property and liability.
• Underwrite your own personal caseload and provide technical excellence to the Agency Network.
• Develop new business pipelines and attend client visits as required.
• Collaborate with NFU Mutual Sales Force and Service Centre to deliver underwriting objectives and KPI targets.

We believe that commercial business presents our biggest growth opportunity over the longer term and this is an opportunity to be an integral part of that growth. Working in partnership with our tied Agency Network and Sales teams in the North West, you’ll support the development of new business pipelines, attend client visits as required, gain increased exposure and develop your experience and understanding of various risks, whilst underwriting your own personal caseload. You’ll be a key point of technical excellence to the Agency Network and Sales Force, providing clear direction on NFUM Underwriting strategy, Risk Appetite and the technical knowledge and skills to deliver objectives, KPI’s and first-class customer service. Using your market knowledge and expertise, you’ll apply a ‘whole account’ underwriting philosophy, working in collaboration with cross-divisional teams and supporting with the identification of new mid-market opportunities.
