Job summary

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant in Critical Care Transfer to join the ARCC KSS team hosted by RSFT. The role involves coordinating inter-hospital transfers across Kent, Surrey & Sussex and occasional coverage into London, providing high-quality critical care in transit and inpatient settings.

You must hold GMC licence and be on the Specialist Register for ICM or Anaesthesia, with transferral experience; shifts are 12 hours, 09:00–21:00, seven days a week,

Qualifications

• Must hold in good standing GMC licence to practise.
• Specialist registration for ICM or Anaesthetics is required or to be obtained.
• Experience in critical care transfer and inter-hospital transfers is essential.

Responsibilities

• Take referrals from healthcare providers across KSS and advise referring teams.
• Allocate urgency and priority to each transfer and communicate ETA to referrers.
• Work as part of a 12-hour shift rota (09:00–21:00), 7 days a week, with occasional overrun.
• Deliver clinical care and interventions in hospital and transfer environments to ensure safe transfer.
• Work from two bases (Crawley and Maidstone) with potential base moves.
• Provide leadership within the ARCC Clinical Transfer Team.
