Overview

Refuse Collector

Location: Swadlincote

Salary: £12.21 per hour

Contract Type: Full-time

Temporary Hours: Monday to Thursday 05:45 - 13:15
Friday 05:45 - 12:45

Start date Monday 3rd Nov 2025

Overtime will be available

Responsibilities

• Collect household, commercial, and recycling waste from designated routes
• Operate and load refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently
• Ensure bins are returned to correct locations after emptying
• Report any issues such as damaged bins, blocked access, or contamination
• Work closely with team members to complete daily collection schedules
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Provide courteous service to members of the public when required

Requirements

• Good level of physical fitness (role involves heavy lifting and walking long distances)
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Punctual, dependable, and team-oriented
• Willingness to follow instructions and safety protocols
• Previous experience in waste collection or manual labour is desirable but not essential
