Darlington Borough Council Housing Service is seeking to recruit an ambitious, professional, compassionate and enthusiastic individual to join our Refugee & Asylum Team.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and supportive team who are passionate about getting the best outcomes for our customers and in the effective delivery of a range of resettlement programmes.
You will establish supportive relationships with individuals. You will be the first point of contact with households displaced by war, disaster or famine in matters relating to housing and safeguarding, ensuring households are not at risk of homelessness. In addition you will offer advice and support with all aspects of establishing, managing and maintaining a tenancy.
You will have excellent communication and customer care skills and a commitment to delivering high quality customer focused resettlement services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records as required and working closely with other team members at all times.
You should have relevant experience in housing, social care and/or a support related field. Ideally, with experience of working with service users who may have specific or multiple social barriers. You must have knowledge of housing issues and homelessness legislation. Experience of liaising with a wide range of agencies. Effective ICT skills, the ability to organise your own workload and the ability to use initiative and make decisions outside policy & procedure are important in this role.
Based in Darlington with the flexibility for agile working you will work as part of a highly motivated team which is proactive and customer focussed. You will work with customers who are dealing with significant change in their lives, who need additional help and support. By working with and supporting these customers we contribute to the housing services aim to deliver clean, safe and thriving places where people want to live.
