Domestic Abuse Refuge Project Worker (Children & Young People)

Location: Hampshire, Portsmouth & Southampton
Salary: £15,000 - £20,000 per annum
Hours: 22 hours per week
Enhanced DBS: Required

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Refuge Project Worker to support children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse and are living in refuge accommodation. This is a trauma-informed role focused on safety, recovery, empowerment and long-term outcomes for children and families.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing one-to-one and group support to children and young people in refuge
  • Delivering safety planning, advocacy and emotional support
  • Supporting children to process trauma and build resilience
  • Facilitating group work, peer support and holiday activities
  • Working in partnership with mothers to strengthen family relationships
  • Supporting access to education, including school liaison and transfers
  • Developing and reviewing individual support and risk management plans
  • Advocating for families with statutory and voluntary agencies
  • Maintaining accurate case records and reports in line with data protection
  • Contributing to the safe day-to-day running of refuge accommodation
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota, including emergency response
What we're looking for:
  • Experience supporting vulnerable children and young people
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
  • Ability to work within a multi-agency and legislative framework
  • Confidence in advocacy, risk assessment and safety planning
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independentlyExcellent communication, organisational and IT skills
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
