Job summary

Manpower UK is seeking an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Engineer for a mobile role across Central Scotland, covering Glasgow to Edinburgh. You will maintain, service and repair industrial refrigeration and chiller systems in varied sites, including meat, food and beverage, pharma, and automotive environments.

The role focuses on planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and rapid response to breakdowns, with the majority of work across the Glasgow-Edinburgh corridor.

Qualifications

• F-Gas Category 1 (2079) certification required.
• Ammonia handling qualification and experience.
• HVACR qualifications such as NVQ or City & Guilds.
• Experience with HFC, ammonia and CO2 systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned maintenance and fault diagnosis on refrigeration systems.
• Repair and breakdown support across sites in Central Scotland.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and refrigeration faults and implement fixes.
• Carry out leak testing, system inspections and safe re-commissioning.

Mobile Role | Central Scotland (Glasgow to Edinburgh Region)

A leading engineering business is looking to recruit an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Engineer to join its expanding service team. This is a mobile role covering Central Scotland, with the majority of customer sites located across the Glasgow and Edinburgh corridor.

Working across a diverse range of industrial environments, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing industrial refrigeration and chiller systems for a varied customer base.

Projects and service work are carried out across a range of sectors including:

• Meat and poultry
• Food and beverage manufacturing
• Pharmaceutical production
• Automotive manufacturing
• General industrial environments

The Role

The Industrial Refrigeration Engineer will be responsible for delivering planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and breakdown support on a variety of refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Servicing

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
• Conduct leak testing and system inspections.
• Monitor compressor performance and efficiency.
• Replace worn or faulty components to minimise downtime and maintain operational performance.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration-related faults.
• Respond effectively to emergency breakdown situations.
• Ensure systems are restored safely and efficiently.

Compliance & Safety

• Work in line with all health and safety legislation and company procedures.
• Safely handle hazardous refrigerants, including toxic and flammable gases.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and emissions standards.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• F-Gas Category 1 (2079) certification.
• Ammonia handling qualification and experience.
• A recognised qualification such as NVQ or City & Guilds in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR).
• Proven experience working with HFC, ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems.
• Strong working knowledge of DX, pumped, flooded and multistage refrigeration systems.
• Experience working with equipment from manufacturers such as Sabroe, Frick, York, Bitzer and Howden.
