Job summary

Optegra Eye Health Care in Colchester is seeking an experienced VC/Refractive Optometrist for a part-time role. You will conduct pre- and post-operative assessments, run clinics, and support patient pathways within a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers funded training, development programs, and a comprehensive benefits package. The successful candidate will have GOC registration, extensive refractive optometry experience, and familiarity with EMR/patient administration systems.

Qualifications

• GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist is required.
• Extensive experience as an optometrist in refractive, high street or hospital environments.
• Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems.
• Experience working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre- and post-operative examinations and consultations.
• Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery and document findings in EMR.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first-line clinical advice and refer to a medical practitioner when needed.
• Be aware of equipment handling and safety within the clinical framework.
• Attend mandatory update courses and stay aligned with CQC policies.

Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced VC/Refractive Optometrist to join our team in Colchester, supporting the delivery and growth of our private patient pathways. Part-time role

22.5 hours per week across 3 days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with cataract surgery.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

Requirements

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
