Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking a proactive Projects Co-ordinator to drive delivery of national waste reforms across Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland City Councils. You will translate policy and funding conditions into deliverable projects, coordinating multiple services and external partners to ensure value for money and successful delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating projects, programmes or complex work involving multiple stakeholders.
• Experience developing reports, plans, business cases or other documentation to support decision‑making.
• Experience working collaboratively across teams, organisations or partnerships to deliver agreed outcomes.
• Ability to identify, manage and elevate project risks, issues and dependencies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the planning and delivery of priority Simpler Recycling and pEPR-funded projects.
• Translate legislative requirements and funding conditions into defined project plans and delivery pathways.
• Develop and maintain business cases, option appraisals and delivery documentation.
• Coordinate activity across services, communications, ICT, finance, procurement and external partners to ensure deliverability.
• Support the Partnership to explore enhanced recycling services for under‑captured materials.
• Monitor project progress and provide assurance through reporting and escalation.
• Maintain audit trails to demonstrate value for money and compliance with funding requirements.
• Identify and elevate risks, issues and decision points through governance arrangements.
• Support transition of completed projects into business‑as‑usual arrangements.
