Job description

Recruitment Consultant

Manchester | Full Time | Full UK Driving Licence Required

£28,000 - £34,000 basic salary + uncapped commission (£5,000-£20,000 OTE)

At Teaching Personnel, the UK's market-leading education recruitment agency, we do more than match educators with jobs. We build lasting partnerships with schools and create opportunities that make a meaningful difference in classrooms across the UK.

We are growing our high-performing Manchester team and looking for commercially driven professionals to join our SEND and Secondary Education divisions.

This is a proactive, outbound sales role where you will build your own recruitment desk, develop new client relationships and win business with schools across your market. You might already work in recruitment, fast-paced agency sales or a business development role where prospecting, building a pipeline and converting opportunities are central to your success.

Knowledge of SEND or Secondary Education would be an advantage, as would a genuine passion for the sector. However, what matters most is your natural aptitude for sales, your understanding of how to grow business and your desire to build a successful, long-term career.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Winning new business - identify and engage prospective school clients through proactive outbound sales activity, creating opportunities to grow your desk and market share.
  • Building your recruitment desk - develop a structured pipeline of new clients, educators and commercial opportunities within your specialist SEND or Secondary market.
  • Developing lasting partnerships - understand the challenges facing schools and position Teaching Personnel as a trusted recruitment partner.
  • Growing your network - build strong relationships with decision-makers in schools and develop a reliable community of talented educators.
  • Managing the full recruitment cycle - balance new business development with candidate attraction, placement activity and exceptional ongoing service.
  • Becoming a market expert - build your knowledge of the local education landscape and use market insight to deliver relevant, high-quality recruitment solutions.
  • Achieving commercial success - work towards clear activity, revenue and growth targets, with your performance recognised and rewarded.
Who You Are
  • Commercially experienced - you have solid experience in sales, business development or agency recruitment, with evidence of generating opportunities and delivering against targets.
  • A proactive business developer - you are confident making outbound calls, approaching prospective clients and creating new relationships from the ground up.
  • Growth focused - you understand the behaviours and activity required to build a successful client base, recruitment desk or territory.
  • Persuasive and credible - you can quickly understand a client's needs, communicate a strong value proposition and influence decision-makers.
  • Resilient - you remain motivated through setbacks, learn from challenges and maintain consistent activity in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • People-centric - you enjoy building relationships, speaking with new people and creating partnerships that deliver value for everyone involved.
  • Ambitious - you want to develop your skills, take ownership of your success and progress in a long-term sales and recruitment career.
  • Agile - you can manage competing priorities, stay organised and move confidently between business development, candidate management and client service.
  • Education motivated - experience or knowledge of SEND or Secondary Education is an advantage, but a genuine interest in the sector and willingness to learn are equally important.
  • A driver - ideally, you will have access to a car so you can regularly meet clients and build relationships with schools across your market.
What's in It for You?
  • Uncapped commission - the more impact you create and the more you grow your desk, the more you can earn.
  • Generous holiday allowance - 28 days, increasing with service up to 33 days, plus bank holidays and shorter working hours during school holidays.
  • Flexible benefits - including Cash Plan health cover, access to a virtual GP, the opportunity to buy additional holiday and much more.
  • Amazing incentives - including cash bonuses, holiday and prize draws, and regular team events.
  • Recognition and celebration - be part of company-wide initiatives and bi-annual award nights where success is recognised.
  • A high-performing team - join an established Manchester team with the knowledge, experience and ambition to help you succeed.
  • World-class training and mentoring - develop your recruitment, sales and business development skills with support from experienced market leaders.
  • Continuous career development - benefit from hands-on learning, regular development conversations and clear opportunities for promotion.
  • The tools to build your success - combine your commercial experience with an established brand, proven systems and a strong education market presence.
  • A supportive culture - work alongside people who celebrate success, share knowledge and champion one another.
  • Flexibility - work from home one day per week once established.
Ready to Take the Next Step?

If you are an experienced sales, business development or recruitment professional who enjoys winning new business and building something of your own, we want to hear from you.

Bring the right attitude, behaviours and commercial drive, and you will have the opportunity to build a successful recruitment desk, develop your expertise and progress within a high-performing team.

Employment offers are subject to satisfactory vetting checks. These checks will be completed in line with the latest guidance and legislation. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
