About the Role

As the Recruitment & Retention Lead, you'll be the driving force behind our Council's approach to attracting and retaining top talent. Your expertise will enable us to implement innovative strategies that reflect our commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce. You will work closely with key stakeholders and lead a dedicated team to ensure our services are customer-focused and effective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the recruitment and retention team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute robust strategies to ensure the Council attracts and retains outstanding talent.
  • Provide expert advice on complex recruitment and retention issues to Senior Executive Board members and Councillors.
  • Stay updated on employment law changes and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Manage procurement activities for recruitment initiatives, ensuring best value and compliance.
  • Utilise HR data to drive informed decision‑making and enhance service delivery.
What We're Looking For
  • Extensive Knowledge: A solid understanding of relevant legislation and Council terms and conditions.
  • Experience: Proven experience in leading a customer‑facing team and managing recruitment and selection processes.
  • Qualifications: A postgraduate degree or equivalent in Human Resources, along with Chartered membership of CIPD or a willingness to work towards it.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, coupled with excellent report‑writing abilities. You should be adept at managing complex situations with resilience and adaptability.
