Job summary

Aquarius Action Projects is seeking a Recovery Practitioner to support individuals affected by alcohol and substance misuse with advice, assessments, and structured interventions. You’ll work one-to-one, deliver group programmes, and help create personalised care plans for recovery and wellbeing.

The role involves working across community locations and partner services, collaborating with professionals to ensure timely, right-step support. A genuine passion for helping people is essential.

Qualifications

  • Have a relevant qualification in health, social care, counselling, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of substance misuse, recovery approaches, and client-centred support.
  • Be organised with strong record-keeping and IT skills.
  • Be able to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out screening, assessments, and brief interventions.
  • Develop and review personalised care plans to support recovery goals.
  • Deliver structured one-to-one support and facilitate group programmes.
  • Provide guidance and support to individuals affected by someone else’s substance use.
  • Maintain accurate case records and monitor outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies and professionals to ensure integrated support.
  • Promote the service through partnership working, events, and community engagement.
  • Support and oversee volunteers or peer mentors where required.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures and confidentiality standards are always followed.
