Job summary

Hough Green Garage is recruiting Recovery Drivers and Heavy Recovery Drivers for a varied, fast-paced role. You will attend breakdowns, recover and transport vehicles, and maintain documentation and vehicle condition. The team focuses on delivering calm, professional service in stressful situations.

Full UK driving license and tachograph certification are required; training is provided. The role offers competitive hourly pay with overtime, weekly pay, and opportunities to gain further driving

• Proven driving experience preferred for recovery role.

Responsibilities

• Attend breakdowns and accident scenes across the area.
• Safely recover and transport vehicles from motorways and routes.
• Complete vehicle checks and keep vehicle/yard tidy.
• Ensure all jobs are logged in PDA systems.
• Assist with moving vehicles within the depot.

Pay

• Up to A GBP 19.00ph dependant on shift and experience Class 1 heavy
• Up to A GBP 16.00ph dependant on shift and experience Class 2
• Up to A GBP 15.00ph dependant on shift and experience 7.5ton
• Additions: Call:out and Overtime

Due to continued growth and new contract wins, we are expanding our team and recruiting additional, 7.5T and Class 2 Recovery Drivers and Heavy Recovery Drivers.

This is a varied, fast:paced role where no two days are the same. We are looking for motivated, adaptable individuals who thrive under pressure, work confidently alone, and deliver a professional and efficient service to our customers.

While much of the role is carried out independently, every interaction with a member is an opportunity to provide reassurance and support. Remaining calm under pressure, youll use empathy, resilience, and technical expertise to help people through challenging situations. Whether youre recovering a vehicle safely, transporting it to a garage, or helping a member continue their journey, youll play a vital role in turning a stressful experience into a positive one.

What You’ll Do

• Attend breakdowns and accident scenes across our operational area
• Safely recover and transport vehicles from motorways and major routes
• Complete vehicle checks and maintain a tidy vehicle/yard
• Ensure all jobs are completed using company PDA systems
• Assist with moving vehicles within the depot as required

What You’ll Need

• Full UK Driving Licence
• DCPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Proven driving experience (recovery experience desirable but not essential)
• Strong communication skills and customer:focused approach
• Ability to work under pressure and independently
• Clean record and ability to pass Police vetting
• Good local geographical knowledge
• Basic mechanical understanding preferred
• Flexible approach to working hours

• Day roles include on:call requirements (explained at interview)
• Both day and night shift available
• Employment subject to proof of right to work in the UK
• Due to work with Police Authorities, this role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
