Receptionist GP Extended Access & Community Services

The post holder will need to be flexible to work at any of our clinical hubs which are based at: Redcar, Middlesbrough, Brotton and Guisborough.

Offer general assistance to the team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the service including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the team

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

Main duties of the job

  • Scanning
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
  • Providing assistance as required with filing, photocopying and scanning
  • Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies
  • Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required; and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy
  • Keeping the reception area, noticeboards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter

ELM Alliance Ltd was formed by the GP Practices in 2017 and has approximately 250 people working for us and with us. We deliver NHS services to the patients of Redcar, Cleveland and Middlesbrough and are wholly owned by the local GP Practices. Our services include primary care general practice, services to care homes and community services such as dermatology. The landscape is changing; both the way we interact with patients and the local structures. It is an exciting and dynamic time to work with General Practice, other NHS providers and the voluntary sectors.

The Extended Access Service represents a major development towards integrated primary care with 24/7 access. The aim of the service is to provide a high quality, integrated and innovative primary care service, outside current core hours of care and led by General Practices.

As a receptionist you will work in close partnership with the other key members of the service, ELM Alliance Leadership Team and external organisations to deliver the service in a safe and timely manner.
