Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department Reception Team. We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication skills who can work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

You will provide a professional, patient-focused Reception service, ensuring all patients attending the Emergency Department are registered promptly and correctly. You will handle face-to-face and telephone enquiries from patients, relatives and other departments, and will undertake a range of administrative duties to support the smooth running of the service.

The role requires strong IT skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well as part of a team. You should be able to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate a friendly and approachable manner at all times. You must be able to provide flexibility according to service needs. Please note the available shifts include afternoons, evenings, nights and weekends.

Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is desirable; however, full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality, welcoming reception service to patients, relatives and visitors.
  • Register patients accurately on the departmental system, ensuring all required information is captured.
  • Respond to incoming telephone and in-person enquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Support clinicians and wider ED staff with administrative tasks as required.
  • Work efficiently under pressure in a busy clinical environment.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.

Immigration and Sponsorship
