Lance Lane Medical Centre is looking to recruit a part time Receptionist to join our friendly and established team.

Hours will be upto 30 hours a week. We will consider one person or job share for upto these hours. This will be temporary position for 6 months but will be reviewed. Candidate/s must be flexible with their start and finishing times and days.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, driven, a team player with fantastic customer service skills who is willing to learn and likes to make a difference. The candidate must be a quick learner, adaptable to a busy environment and take a flexible approach to work patterns.

The role will be mainly patient facing with duties including front desk, scanning, prescription requests and general administration work. You should be EMIS proficient, but we are happy to develop these IT skills if needed.

GP Reception Experience and knowledge of EMIS Web is ideal.

Main duties of the job

This role involves greeting and booking patients in atreception, booking and cancelling appointments.

Answer incoming telephone calls and ensuring calls aredocumented and directed where appropriate.

Ensure correspondence are filed electronically in correctpatient records.

Assist with daily administration duties such as filing, pickingup emails, scanning, dealing with queries and processing prescriptions. Undertakeadministration tasks as allocated on rota organised by Manager.

Job responsibilities
  • Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team
  • Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient/representative and checking names and address and code appropriately.
  • Be able to cover all reception position as necessary
  • Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Deal with visits/requests
  • Receiving telephone calls
  • Forwarding calls to the correct destination when necessary
  • Taking messages

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

  • Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

  • Pulling/filing notes for summarising and updating as necessary
