We are seeking a professional, organised, and welcoming Receptionist/Administrator to join our team at Akeley Wood School. Reporting to the Administration Manager, the successful candidate will be the first point of contact for all visitors and external enquiries across our campuses, playing a key role in creating a positive and lasting impression of the school. This varied role involves managing the Reception area, overseeing pupil registration and attendance, and maintaining accurate records using SIMS and Cognita Connect. You will also handle incoming communications, support teaching staff with administrative tasks, coordinate mail and stationery supplies, and ensure the Reception area reflects the school’s professional image at all times. As one of the school’s First Aid Officers, you will provide assistance in dealing with pupil and staff illnesses or injuries, while also contributing to school events such as Open Days and presentations. The ideal candidate will be personable, efficient, and committed to upholding high standards of professionalism, safeguarding, and care within our vibrant school community.

We are looking for a professional and personable individual with a good standard of written and spoken English and educated to A Level standard (or equivalent). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, alongside strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel. You will be an excellent communicator, with a professional telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively as part of a team and supporting others when required. We are seeking someone with maturity and a calm, friendly approach, able to remain composed under pressure while exercising tact and diplomacy in challenging situations. An understanding of the importance of handling confidential records appropriately is essential, as is a commitment to maintaining high professional standards at all times.
