A busy GP Training Practice in Wallasey is seeking a Receptionist/Administrator to provide excellent patient service and administrative support. This role requires strong communication, organizational, and IT skills in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment. Experience in a public-facing role and using clinical systems is preferred. The practice fosters a professional and supportive atmosphere.
We are a busy, well-established GP Training Practice in the heart of Wallasey Village. We are seeking a Receptionist/Administrator, preferably with previous General Practice experience to join our friendly team.You must have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills, and be able to work confidently in a busy patient-facing environment. Provide a high-quality reception and administrative serviceto patients, clinicians and the wider team.
Communicate effectively with patients both in person andover the telephone, ensuring a polite and professional manner at all times.
Book, amend and cancel appointments using the clinicalsystem.
Process tasks, messages and requests from clinicians,management and external organisations.
Register new patients and maintain accurate patient records.
Process repeat prescription requests in line with practiceprotocols.
Handle clinical correspondence, scanning and documentworkflow.
Provide clear information to patients about practiceprocesses and any applicable charges for non-NHS services.
Maintain a tidy and organised reception and waiting area,supporting efficient patient flow.
Ensure clinical rooms are restocked with stationery andessential supplies.
Open and close the building in line with securityprocedures.
Attend training, team meetings and contribute to serviceimprovement.
Work flexibly to provide additional cover when needed,ensuring continuity of patient care and smooth running of the practice.
Adhere to practice policies, protocols andrelevant legislation at all times
Village Medical Centre is a friendly GP Training Practice based in Wallasey Village.Our team includes 5 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 2 GP Registrars, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant, and a supportive team of Receptionists/Administrators.We are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and providing a positive, supportive environment for our staff.
Job Purpose
To provide an efficient and friendly reception andadministrative service to support the smooth running of the practice and thedelivery of high-quality patient care. The post holder will work as part of thewider practice team, ensuring patients are welcomed, supported and directedappropriately.
Key Responsibilities
Reception Duties
Greet patients and visitors in a welcoming and professionalmanner.
Actively signpost and care-navigate patients to appropriateservices.
Answer the telephone promptly, professionally andcourteously.
Manage patient enquiries and provide accurate informationwhen required.
Manage the waiting room environment and ensure patient flowis efficient.
Appointments and Patient Administration
Book, amend and cancel patient appointments for allclinicians.
Administer new patient registrations and maintain accuratepatient records.
Update patient information in line with practice protocols.
Process repeat prescription requests and action them in atimely manner.
Clinical and Administrative Support
Process clinical tasks, messages and requests fromclinicians and managers.
Handle incoming clinical correspondence, including scanningand workflow.
Provide information on non-NHS services and explain relevantcharges.
Ensure clinical rooms are restocked with stationery andessential supplies.
Operational Duties
Open and close the building, ensuring full compliance withsecurity procedures.
Maintain a tidy and organised reception and waiting area.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions and engage inongoing development.
Work flexibly to provide cover and support colleagues whenrequired.
General Responsibilities
Work in accordance with practice policies, procedures andprotocols.
Adhere to all relevant legislation, including dataprotection and confidentiality.
Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture within thepractice.
