Job description

We are looking for a friendly, helpful and efficient individuals required for a busy GP surgery in Hunslet, Leeds. Hours are 30 - 37.5 per week over 4-5 days but must be flexible to swap shifts for holiday &any; sickness cover.

The post is varied and duties include: greeting patients, sending referrals via online system, scanning patient documents, booking appointments, answering patient queries, processing prescriptions, and medical reports administration.

Full training is given, but a friendly manner, accuracy and an attention to detail are all essential qualities for the post.

The reception-admin team work in an open plan space, so an ability to concentrate on the task at hand, while remaining flexible to demands that arise is also needed.

Main duties of the job

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure that patients without appointments but who need an "urgent consultation" are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.

Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors, including medical reps.

Ensure that request for repeat prescriptions are actioned, where possible, the same day, but certainly within 48 hours.

Action requests for ambulance and/or hospital transportation and enter details in patient computer record. When necessary, liaise with hospitals and other agencies, as directed by doctor.

Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.

Advise potentially new patients regarding registration.

Inform patients of test results, as per practice policy.

Book appointments, checking date of birth and address, ensuring that the correct patient is booked in and their computer details are correct and up to date.

Prompt patients to amend registration details, as appropriate.

Job responsibilities

We are seeking for a Medical Receptionist and Administrator to join our caring, friendly and busy practice at Arthington Medical Centre.

The role of the medical receptionist and administrator will include responding to telephone queries, booking appointments, receiving patients at the reception desk and a host of administrative duties, for example scanning and processing documents, processing prescriptions, summarising patient records and registering patients amongst other duties.

The applicant must have primary care experience however, comprehensive in-house training will be given along with a willingness to learn.
