Job summary

A local healthcare practice in Brighton is seeking a reception staff member for front line duties. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and IT skills, with experience in healthcare environments being preferred. Job Summary

The successful applicant must have a positive attitude, a professional and friendly manner with a flexible approach to work collaboratively as a key member of the team.


The post holder will have responsibility for front line reception duties. You should have excellent communication and customer service skills and demonstrate a high degree of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality as the first point of contact to our service users, carers, health professionals and third party organisations.


You must be comfortable and confident in a fast paced environment while maintaining a calm approach.


Some flexibility is required at times to cover holidays and sickness.


Applicants will be expected to have a good standard of education, including English and Maths, and good IT skills are important.


This is a very busy role and someone who has previous experience working in a GP practice or similar healthcare setting would be an advantage.


Hours: 20 hours per week working Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm.


Please note that interviews will take place Thursday 4th December.



Duties And Responsibilities


  • Front desk reception duties

  • Maintaining our appointment system

  • Processing requests for appointments and ensuring callers are directed to the most appropriate clinician/service

  • Filing and retrieving paperwork

  • Work with confidential and sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality at all times

  • To ensure high levels of accuracy are maintained in all aspects of work.

  • Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines

  • Successful applicants must be willing to attend training to enhance the job role and keep up to date with current practices and policies.

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social care
