Reception Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Preston)

Contract: Full-time, long-term (potential temp-to-perm)

We are seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic Reception Teaching Assistant to join a warm and supportive primary school in the Preston area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about early years education and helping young children make the best possible start to school life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils aged 4-5 within a busy and engaging Reception classroom
  • Leading small-group and 1:1 interventions such as early phonics, reading and fine motor support
  • Assisting with continuous provision and play‑based learning
  • Helping to maintain routines, behaviour expectations and positive classroom relationships
  • Preparing resources and supporting the teacher with daily classroom activities
  • Creating a safe, stimulating and nurturing learning environment
Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience in an EYFS setting (nursery, preschool or Reception)
  • Understanding of early development milestones and phonics
  • A patient, calm and child‑centred approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A current DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
