Job summary

The Chadderton Preparatory Grammar School in Oldham is seeking a Reception Teacher for a fixed-term maternity cover starting February 2027. The role welcomes experienced teachers and ECTs, with a focus on nurturing confident, curious young learners through purposeful play.

You will plan and deliver the EYFS curriculum, support phonics, early reading and maths, and work closely with families to ensure continuity of learning.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a bachelor’s degree.
• Solid knowledge of the EYFS framework, early child development, phonics and early mathematics.
• Ability to plan engaging learning, assess progress and adapt teaching to individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging learning across the EYFS curriculum through play and adult-led teaching.
• Create a nurturing, inclusive Reception classroom and outdoor learning environment.
• Teach phonics, early reading, writing and maths using observation and assessment to plan next steps.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and colleagues to support wellbeing and transitions.
• Promote positive behaviour and safeguard responsibilities; contribute to school life.
