A leading educational recruitment agency is seeking a Reception Graduate Teaching Assistant in Birmingham. The role involves supporting Early Years education in a 'Good' primary school, promoting child independence, and engaging in phonics and early number practices. Applicants should hold a degree (2:2 or above) and have a clear desire to work with children. A warm, organized approach and effective communication skills are essential. Pay ranges from £90 to £105 per day until July 2026.
Looking to build real Early Years experience before teacher training?
Set up and rotate continuous provision, supervise child-initiated play, and run short adult-led activities. You’ll model rich language, guide turn-taking and sharing, and give calm 1:1 support where needed. Expect phonics warm‑ups, early number practice, fine‑motor tasks, outdoor learning, and quick observations to spot next steps.
A warm, organised approach and clear communication. You follow guidance closely, keep routines predictable, and help children become independent—without doing the task for them.
This ‘Good’ Yardley primary is two‑form entry with calm, well‑organised EYFS provision. Reception follows a consistent phonics programme with daily practice, clear talk‑rich routines, and zoned indoor/outdoor areas (role play, construction, small world, mark‑making, sensory). Planning is collaborative: staff share quick observation formats, language prompts, and ready‑made activity cards so you can deliver high‑quality sessions without reinventing resources. Behaviour expectations are simple and consistent, supported by visual timetables and tidy‑up routines. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite‑size CPD, and short coaching drop‑ins with precise next steps—ideal conditions to build a strong evidence base for ITT.
Email your CV and include availability and DBS status (add two referees if you can). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and an in‑school observation. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.
Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
