GSL Education Manchester is working in partnership with a highly regarded 2-form entry primary school in Stockport to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Reception Class Teacher to cover a maternity leave. This full-time position begins in December 2025, offering the chance to join a supportive Early Years team in a school known for its inclusive ethos and strong community links.
You’ll take full responsibility for a Reception class, delivering a child-led, play-based curriculum in line with the EYFS Framework. The class is well-supported by a full-time teaching assistant and an experienced EYFS lead. The school is looking for a warm, skilled practitioner who can provide consistency for pupils while a valued team member is on leave.
The maternity cover is expected to run until December 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on staffing needs.
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that support all areas of EYFS development
Maintain high-quality classroom environments that promote curiosity and independence
Track pupil progress through formative assessment and contribute to learning journals
Support the transition of children entering Reception and prepare them for Year 1
Work closely with the parallel Reception teacher to ensure consistency and collaborative planning
Build strong relationships with families, colleagues, and external professionals
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven EYFS teaching experience
A sound understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage
Confident in delivering learning that supports pupils with varying needs, including those with EHCPs
A nurturing, organised, and reflective practitioner
A team player who contributes positively to school life and collaborative planning
