Job summary

Digital Waffle, a fast-growing event technology business, is hiring a Front End Engineer to help build and scale a collaborative digital platform used by events and venues around the world. This is a front end focused role working primarily with React and TypeScript, with the opportunity to gain exposure to Python and Django on the backend.

Qualifications

• Around 3+ years of commercial software engineering experience with a strong focus on React.
• Strong React and TypeScript skills.
• Good understanding of state management, ideally with experience using Zustand or similar.
• Experience integrating frontend applications with backend APIs.
• Strong understanding of unit, integration and automated testing.
• Experience working in Agile product engineering environments.
• Comfortable contributing to technical discussions and product decisions.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Python or Django would be a strong advantage, but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain frontend features using React and TypeScript.
• Work on highly interactive, real-time product experiences.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design and Engineering to deliver high-quality features.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and frontend technology improvements.
• Build and maintain automated tests using Vitest and Playwright.
• Integrate frontend features with backend APIs.
• Support performance optimisation, observability and technical debt reduction.
• Contribute to code reviews, knowledge sharing and team development.
• Gain exposure to Python and Django as part of the wider engineering stack.
