Job summary

Wood Mackenzie in Edinburgh is hiring a senior software engineer to join the Thundercats Team, building real-time platforms that collect, process, analyze, and distribute operational data from thousands of energy assets and sensors worldwide. You will help monitor performance, detect events, and improve reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include developing large-scale data processing systems, implementing new features for customers, and driving cloud modernization across AWS/Azure.

Qualifications

• Experience with real-time data processing and large-scale systems.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with performance tuning.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain large-scale real-time data processing systems.
• Design and implement new features for internal and external customers.
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability, and observability across platforms.
• Contribute to cloud migration and modernization initiatives (AWS and Azure).
• Work with IoT sensor data, event streams, and operational analytics.
• Maintain, enhance, and document existing systems.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and domain experts across the organization.
• Participate in architecture, design, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Work as part of an international agile team.
