Description

Property paralegal. Cheltenham base.
Full / Part-time. 1-year fixed term contract.

About The Role

Wiggin is not a typical law firm and this is not a typical Property Paralegal role. We specialise in media, technology, sports, betting & gaming, and intellectual property. While our clients instruct us on mainstream freehold, leasehold and other property work, many of our film and TV sector clients also use us to negotiate location contracts for filming anything from small TV productions to the next blockbuster movie. These contracts are fundamentally land hire agreements, but they also contain bespoke provisions designed to protect and maximise the value of the filming content being produced.

As a paralegal in our compact and agile Property Team, you’ll work alongside highly skilled lawyers on a range of property matters. You’ll undertake practical tasks on core transactions (acquisitions and disposals), such as property searches, investigations and reports on title, managing the mechanics of completion, and post‑completion matters. Most of this work will relate to commercial property, but there will be occasional high‑profile or high‑value residential purchase and sales work too.

You’ll also gain hands‑on experience with our location contracts work, handling multiple contracts simultaneously for a range of film and TV production companies. You’ll receive full training to ensure you can quickly become confident in this unusual and exciting workstream.

The role is being offered on a fixed‑term basis to cover a maternity leave, with a start date in January 2026. We are open to part‑time candidates looking at least a 75% full‑time equivalent basis.

Based in our Cheltenham office, under our discretionary hybrid working policy you’ll typically be able to work from home up to 2 days each week.

About You

You’re probably already excited about the prospect of watching your first movie where you’ve helped facilitate on‑location filming.

We are looking for candidates who have at least 6 months’ experience working in a property paralegal role, with solid knowledge of English property law and the main elements of commercial property transactions (freehold and leasehold).

In this client‑facing, fast‑paced role, you’ll need excellent time management and meticulous attention to detail, alongside exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Please ensure that your skills in each of these areas are clearly demonstrated in your application.

We expect a high level of interest and will close the vacancy to new applications once we feel we have a sufficient number of candidates. Please submit a carefully prepared application promptly.

Our Culture

Our culture is unique among law firms – we empower our people, expect commitment and excellence, and celebrate success. Our values are at the heart of everything we do: being visionary, authentic, unified, responsible and excellent across the board.

We aim to build teams that are diverse in thought, perspective and experience to provide a more rounded service to our internal and external clients.

We offer an attractive remuneration package including 25 days holiday (plus birthday off), private medical insurance, permanent health insurance, and more from your first day of employment.
