Readers in Sustainability and Circular Economy

We are currently recruiting for Readers with expertise, and an interest in, Sustainability and Circular Economy to join us. Building on our strong interdisciplinary research in sustainable aviation, energy, and climate resilience, we\'re seeking experts in the following focus areas:

  • Sustainable Aviation: Advance net zero aviation research and support activity in the National Centre for Combustion Aerothermal Technology, involving both modelling and experimental approaches.
  • Cleaner Propulsion Technology: Help us strengthen our collaborations with industry partners to advance net zero propulsion, renewable and alternative fuels and sustainable powertrain systems.
  • Structural Composites: Applications of structural composites in wind turbine technology, hydrogen storage, space exploration and defence, with a focus on sustainability through composite recycling.
  • Resilient Built Environments: Augment our expertise in low energy architecture and building services, including digital design, optimization and decision-making tools.
  • Sustainable Manufacturing: Develop sustainable manufacturing technologies to support UK manufacturing industries in key areas such as hydrogen, defence, and nuclear engineering.
  • Sustainable Fashion: Leverage our Design School\'s expertise in circular fashion and sustainable textiles and innovative recycling of manufactured materials.

What we\'re looking for

Successful candidates will have a sustained and continuing record of excellence which has contributed to the furtherance of knowledge in their discipline and is recognised in a well-established and high-profile international reputation. Evidence of significant academic leadership and a PhD, or equivalent research experience, are also essential.
