Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Technical Security Consultant for Sudbury. This role focuses on integrating physical, electronic, communications and networked security within complex sites, including critical infrastructure and high-security projects.

Technical Security Consultant (294jc) – Sudbury - £60,000 – £75,000 + Benefits
Our client is a specialist consultancy operating at the intersection of security, engineering, construction, architecture and infrastructure design.
They provide security assessment, design assurance and technical consultancy services across a range of complex and sensitive environments, including critical national infrastructure, government, defence and high-security commercial projects.
They are now looking to recruit a Technical Security Consultant to join their team based in Sudbury.
This could be an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong military technical background, particularly from the Royal Signals, CIS, communications, Electronic Warfare or a related technical discipline, who wants to develop or continue a professional career within security consultancy.
Importantly, this is not simply a traditional security management position. The role involves understanding how physical, electronic, communications and networked security systems come together as part of the overall design and protection of a site or facility.
Working alongside experienced security consultants and other technical specialists, you will support and ultimately lead elements of security assessment, system design and design assurance.
Projects can incorporate a broad range of technologies and protective measures, including:
You will undertake site surveys and security assessments, contribute to design reviews and help produce technical reports, specifications and supporting documentation.
You will also review network and system architectures, support security integration and commissioning activity, and work with project teams throughout the implementation of security solutions.
We are particularly interested in hearing from veterans with a strong technical communications, networking or security background.
You may have served within the Royal Signals or worked within military CIS, communications, Electronic Warfare, technical intelligence or another relevant engineering discipline.
You do not necessarily need to have spent your military career working with commercial security systems. Of greater importance is a sound understanding of networked communications systems, IP networking and complex technical environments, together with the ability to analyse information and understand how different systems interact.
Previous experience within defence, critical infrastructure, secure facilities, CCTV, access control, information assurance or cyber security would be advantageous.
You should also have:
This is particularly interesting for somebody looking at security consultancy as a long-term professional career, rather than simply their next job.
The successful individual will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge across integrated security systems design, security risk assessment, network architecture, CCTV and video analytics, access control, HVM, critical infrastructure security and blast and ballistic protection.
There is also the opportunity to develop professional consultancy, technical report-writing and client presentation skills, with support towards relevant industry qualifications and professional accreditation, including a potential pathway towards Registered Security Engineer Specialist (RSES) status.
For the right individual, this offers the opportunity to take technical experience gained within the Forces and develop it into a specialist consultancy career working on complex and high-profile security projects.
THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL SECURITY ROLE and is more of a consultative and technical role where you can gain a good long term career with progression and you would probably be an ex SNCO or LE officer who has good hands on technical skills gained from getting the job done and is now seeking a more consultative role.
In return they are offing an excellent starting salary of circa £60 to 75k, 22 days holiday + Bank Holidays, company pension and the ability to gain accreditation in the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES) which is a highly sought after accreditation in this sector as well as ongoing and further training and the ability to move up within this company.
