Job summary

GI Group is hiring Meter Readers in the Newport area to collect data from gas, electricity and water meters at domestic and commercial properties. You’ll use a handheld device, update reads, and provide excellent customer service.

Training is provided, and there is a full-time schedule with flexible start/finish times. Offers include a company car, pension enrolment, uniform and PPE, ongoing training, a bonus scheme, and 28 days of holiday per year.

Qualifications

• No previous experience required.
• Manual UK Driving Licence - minimum 1 year, max 6 points, driving licence required in most areas.
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.

As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity & water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, also entering the details on a handheld device at each location and providing excellent customer service.

What we offer:

• £13.23 - 13.97 per hour basic pay (weekly payment)
• Weekly Hours 40 - 45 hours a week with flexible start and finish times Monday - Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm.
• £29,000 to £35,000 average annual earnings including bonusses.
• Bonus scheme with earnings up to £2000 monthly.

What will you need:

Manual UK Driving Licence - Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences - (driving license is not required in some areas in London)

• Physically fit and have no issues with bending in tight spaces, lifting or kneeling, climbing stairs, crouching, and walking on average 4-5 miles a day.
• Happy to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions)
• Credit Report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years)
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential)
