GI Group is hiring Meter Readers in the Fort William area with no experience required. You will collect data from gas, electricity and water meters for commercial and residential properties using handheld devices and provide excellent customer service.

The role offers flexible hours, on-the-job training, a company car, and progression opportunities with a benefits package including a pension and 28 days holiday. Full uniform and PPE are provided.

Qualifications

• Manual UK Driving Licence with 1 year minimum, max 6 points, no DR offences.
• Physically fit for bending, lifting, kneeling, and walking 4–5 miles daily.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check with no unspent convictions.
• Credit check: no CCJs/IVA/ Debt Relief Orders in last 6 years.
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous customer service experience (preferred, not essential).

Responsibilities

• Retrieve data from domestic, commercial, and industrial meters for Water, Gas and Electric meters; full training provided.
• Carry out visual inspections of metering equipment.
• Conduct Charge Point Surveys.
• Drive and work independently in an outdoor role.
• Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor and comply with Health and Safety guidelines.

Job description

We are hiring METER READERS in your postcode now; no experience is required.

As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity & water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, also entering the details on a handheld device at each location and providing excellent customer service.

What we offer:

• £13.23 - 13.50 per hour basic pay (weekly payment)
• Weekly Hours 15 - 20 hours a week with flexible start and finish times Monday - Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm.
• Bonus scheme with earnings up to £2000 monthly.

What will you need:

• Physically fit and have no issues with bending in tight spaces, lifting or kneeling, climbing stairs, crouching, and walking on average 4-5 miles a day.

• Credit Report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years)
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential)

Duties:

• Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters, full training will be given.
• Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
• Charge Point Surveys.
• Drive and motivation to work in an independent role.
• Friendly personality with a professional approach to work.
• Adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

Training:

• Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reader, so you get to see the job through a professional's eyes.
