Job description

Derbyshire County Council's Welfare Rights Service helps thousands of residents each year maximise their income, access the benefits they are entitled to and improve their financial wellbeing. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Manager to lead an exciting new Crisis Resilience Fund project supporting pensioners and carers across Derbyshire.

This is an opportunity to lead a high-profile programme designed to improve financial resilience, reduce poverty, and ensure older people and carers can access the advice, support, and representation they need to maintain independence and wellbeing. The project will provide welfare benefits advice, casework and tribunal representation, helping residents navigate increasingly complex systems and maximise their household income.

As Team Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Crisis Resilience Fund project. You will lead a team of Senior Welfare Benefits Officers, Welfare Benefits Officers, and Team Leaders, providing clear direction, support, and development opportunities while ensuring high standards of performance and service delivery. Line management, coaching, workforce development, and promoting a positive team culture will be central to the role.

A key focus of the role will be ensuring that the project delivers against its agreed outcomes and remains fully aligned with Crisis Resilience Fund requirements. You will oversee project planning, implementation, and governance, ensuring that resources are deployed effectively and that delivery remains focused on achieving measurable impact for pensioners and carers across Derbyshire.

You will set the quality standards for the project, ensuring that advice, casework, and representation are delivered consistently and to a high standard in line with the Welfare Rights Service. Through quality assurance activity, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement, you will ensure that residents receive an excellent service and that the project demonstrates value, effectiveness, and impact. The role will involve monitoring service delivery, reviewing performance information, and implementing improvements where required.
