Job summary

Byrne Bros is a leading concrete frame subcontractor seeking an experienced Site Engineer (Setting Out) to join our project delivery team in the London area. The successful candidate will ensure permanent and temporary works are accurately set out, constructed in accordance with the design, and fully compliant with project specifications and quality standards.

This hands-on role requires a strong understanding of reinforced concrete structures, groundworks, dimensional control, and quality

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a Site Engineering role within major construction, civil engineering, RC frame, or groundwork projects.
• Experience setting out RC structures and groundworks.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing quality assurance processes and construction records.
• Proficient with Leica, Trimble or equivalent survey equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and undertake all setting out activities for RC frame, civils and groundwork operations.
• Establish and maintain site control points, benchmarks and survey control networks.
• Ensure works are delivered within design and construction tolerances.
• Carry out dimensional checks and verification surveys before, during and after construction activities.
• Produce and maintain accurate as-built survey records.
• Liaise with survey teams regarding control, monitoring and verification requirements.
• Review engineering drawings and identify discrepancies before construction commences.
• Assist the project team with technical queries and design coordination.
• Support buildability reviews and identify opportunities to improve construction methods and productivity.
• Provide accurate technical guidance to supervisors and operatives.
• Assist with temporary works coordination and implementation.
