Job summary

Silven Recruitment Limited is seeking a Raw Materials Quality Manager for a site-based role at a leading food manufacturer. You will take ownership of incoming raw material quality, supplier performance and specification management.

Working with factory operations, QC teams and suppliers, you will ensure the quality, safety and compliance of all incoming materials, implement new systems, and develop robust processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical, quality, raw materials or supplier quality roles within food manufacturing.

• Manage raw material specifications, approval processes and supplier documentation.

Salary: £48,000 - £50,000 + potential car allowance
Site-based | Food Manufacturing

A well-established food manufacturer is seeking an experienced and proactive Raw Materials Quality Managerto take ownership of incoming raw material quality, supplier performance and specification management at a busy manufacturing site.

This is a newly repositioned, management-level role with genuine scope to make an impact. You will sit at the heart of the technical function, working closely with factory operations, QC teams and suppliers to ensure the quality, safety and compliance of all incoming materials.

The role

You will be responsible for:

• Managing raw material specifications, approval processes and supplier documentation.
• Monitoring supplier performance, driving corrective actions and managing non-conformances, rejections and associated credits.
• Investigating incoming material issues and working hands-on with factory and QC teams to resolve them.
• Building strong, direct relationships with suppliers and confidently challenging performance where needed.
• Supporting supplier visits, audits and wider supplier-quality activity.
• Influencing QA teams, supervisors and operational colleagues - without necessarily having direct reports.
• Playing a key role in the implementation of a new raw-materials management system (Food Connected).
• Developing robust processes that protect product quality from the point materials arrive on site.

About you

You will have experience in a technical, quality, raw materials, supplier quality or technical systems role within food manufacturing.

You will ideally bring:

• Strong experience of raw material specifications, supplier management and non-conformance processes.
• A practical, visible approach - you will be comfortable getting out into the factory rather than operating solely from a desk.
• The confidence to speak directly with suppliers and internal stakeholders to get issues resolved.
• The ability to work independently, take ownership and move actions forward without close supervision.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in red meat manufacturing would be advantageous, but candidates from other food manufacturing environments with strong supplier-quality experience will also be considered.
• Previous experience introducing or using a raw materials management system would be beneficial.
