Job summary

Northern is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of Revenue Inspection Devices (RIDs) across Northern and partner train operating companies from development through to entry into service.

Based in York, you’ll manage scope, programme, cost, risk, quality and resources, coordinating with Network Rail, operators and contractors to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery and governance alignment.

Qualifications

• Proven project management experience, ideally with a relevant qualification.
• Experience delivering complex technology, infrastructure, business systems or railway projects.
• Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience managing cost, programme, risk, quality and change.
• Knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.
• An understanding of railway standards.
• The ability to work independently and build effective relationships across organisational boundaries.
• Rail or transport industry experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from definition and design through to delivery.
• Develop robust project scopes, programmes, estimates and business cases.
• Manage project risks, costs, dependencies and change.
• Coordinate delivery with operational activities and Network Rail programmes.
• Lead project meetings, design reviews and contractor interfaces.
• Ensure projects meet governance, safety and industry standards.
