A leading contractor in infrastructure seeks an experienced Estimator to lead bids on major rail projects across the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing first-principles estimates and influencing pricing strategies. Strong rail estimating experience and commercial acumen are essential. This role includes weekly travel to Ireland. Competitive salary between £70,000 - £85,000 plus expenses.

Overview

Are you an experienced Estimator with a strong background in rail projects? Do you want to take the lead on major bids while supporting high-value infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland?

Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 DOE + travel & accommodation expenses
Location: UK-based (weekly travel to Ireland required)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading contractor working on key rail and infrastructure projects. You'll play a pivotal role in developing robust first-principles estimates, leading tenders up to £250m, and supporting strategic frameworks across both the UK and Irish markets.

While experience in the Irish market is advantageous, it's not essential - strong rail estimating experience and commercial acumen are the key requirements.

Essential qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within the rail or infrastructure sector
• Strong understanding of first-principles estimating
• Proficiency with estimating software (CCS Candy or similar)
• Ability to lead bids and coordinate inputs across commercial, operations, and procurement teams

Desirable qualifications

• Experience working on Irish rail or infrastructure projects
• Membership or progression towards a professional body (e.g. CICES, RICS)
