Compensation: £20.09 - £30.14 / hour

Description

We are seeking proactive and highly organised Rail Replacement Controllers to join our London Rail Replacement Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in coordinating and managing rail replacement operations during periods of planned and unplanned service disruption.

Due to the nature of the work, this position is offered on a zero‑hour contract basis, with a variety of shift patterns available – primarily during weekends and at various locations across London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage replacement bus and coach services to ensure seamless passenger journeys during rail disruptions (both planned and emergency).
  • Complete and maintain all job‑specific documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused response, ensuring excellent service standards at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, external suppliers, and stakeholders to achieve operational objectives.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety, taking responsibility for your own safety and that of others, and promptly reporting any unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as required and appropriate to the role.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Calm, professional, and methodical under pressure, particularly in fast‑paced or high‑stress situations.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including shift work on a rota basis (covering middle and late shifts).
