From our foundations in 1858, we’ve helped shape the UK; powering the construction of homes and hospitals, roads and railways, schools and cities alike.

As our industry enables growth, it must also change. Tackling the very real carbon and climate challenges demands real action. That’s why our mission is to make sustainable construction a reality.

With 4,000 colleagues across 200+ sites, we’re passionate about helping Britain grow and thrive — doing the right thing, doing it together, and making a difference. We work hand in hand with our customers and communities to deliver value from foundation to rooftop and build a more sustainable future for all.

The Opportunity

Join Holcim UK as a Rail Operations Planner at Land Recovery Rail (LRR) Ltd, where you’ll play a key role in managing resource planning and ensuring smooth project operations. This role involves assigning required resources, maintaining project files, and coordinating staff training and compliance. If you excel in planning, organisation, and managing multiple activities simultaneously, this is a great opportunity to be part of a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the resourcing of all short-term and long-term projects, inputting planned rosters into One Drive.
  • Manage day-to-day rostering for LRR Ltd, including monitoring Roomex for accommodation bookings.
  • Administer annual leave and absence, ensuring adequate resource levels at all times.
  • Monitor fatigue management of Sentinel Sponsored staff, tracking planned and actual working hours.
  • Ensure Authority to Work Cards are maintained, updated, and sent to employees.
  • Arrange training and assessment events, following company and awarding body policies.
  • Register training/assessment events with appropriate awarding body websites in line with scheme requirements.
  • Maintain accurate entries on internal and external systems, such as IROPA, Signal, Sentinel, and Roomex.
  • Prepare pre-training/assessment checks, registers, course materials, and registrations, following company procedures.
  • Raise purchase orders for training/assessment events as needed.
  • Provide summary reports to the management team and contribute to Quarterly Business Compliance and Management Review Meetings.
  • Undertake additional duties as agreed with your line manager to cover holiday and sickness periods.
Who You Are

You are an experienced Rail Operations Planner with excellent organisational and administrative skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. You thrive in a structured environment, ensuring compliance and efficiency across all areas of project management.

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a history of working with internal and external clients.
  • Strong clerical and administrative abilities, with knowledge of office procedures and IT systems.
  • Confident in dealing with clients and customers, with an excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, and monitor multiple activities effectively.
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate records, managing diaries, and ensuring high standards of document control.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent would be advantageous.
Benefits

Competitive salary, 20 days holiday + your local bank holidays (with options to increase), and other benefits — all recognizing your contribution.

Be valued and supported, working as part of a highly respected team in a business that has a strong focus on Health & Safety.
