Job summary

Midland Metro Limited (MML) is seeking an experienced Electrical and Mechanical Supervisor for the Wednesbury depot to lead maintenance, inspection and fault-response across substation and LV systems. You will be the on-site technical authority in a safety-critical light-rail environment with responsibility for safe working methods.

You will oversee E&M technicians and contractors, ensure high engineering standards, and support commissioning and project works while participating in night shift

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)
• Level 3 Electrical qualification
• ILM Level 3 (or working towards)

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate E&M maintenance, inspections and reactive fault-response activities.
• Act as Authorised Person (AP) and Person in Charge (PIC/PICOP) for isolations and electrical works.
• Lead on-site electrical activities, ensuring strict compliance with RAMS, switching plans and safe systems of work.
• Supervise maintenance and repair of traction substations, LV systems, switchgear and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee electrical testing, diagnostics, fault-finding and safe system restoration.
• Maintain accurate switching documentation, isolation records and asset information in Agility.
• Manage and develop E&M Technicians, Team Members and Apprentices, promoting strong safety and technical standards.
• Oversee contractors to ensure compliance with RAMS, procedures and MML engineering requirements.
• Support commissioning, upgrades and project works affecting electrical assets.
• Stop unsafe work immediately and elevate technical or safety concerns where required.
• Deputise for the E&M Team Leader as needed.
