Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated individual to support the Department, Trust and University’s clinical research agenda. The role is a 12‑month contract with a possibility of extension for another 12 months.
Main duties
- Administer day‑to‑day management of clinical trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and the team’s SOPs.
- Coordinate research engagement activities including drop‑in sessions, tutorials, conferences and training sessions.
- Assist Research Leads with recruitment to training roles and with feasibility and expressions of interest.
- Liaise with pharmacy, finance, radiology and laboratories to set up new trials and ensure all regulatory, sponsor and local requirements are satisfied before trials commence.
- Maintain trial documentation, version control, amend protocols and keep electronic and paper documents stored appropriately.
- Track recruitment data using local data trackers and the portfolio management system EDGE; attend MDT meetings to promote patient recruitment and processing screening logs.
- Work with the Research Delivery Team to complete randomisation, schedule requirements and to keep patient and public involvement a priority.
- Support monitoring visits and trial closure activities, including archiving data and giving progress reports to REC, R&D, sponsors and regulatory bodies.
- Organise and prepare in‑house meetings and events, prepare event minutes and coordinate the monthly Radiology newsletter and the Imaging Research Group intranet page.
Qualifications
- Essential education – Life sciences degree or equivalent experience.
- Essential experience – Minimum 1 year in a clinical trial setting; 1 year data entry/management in trials; experience interacting with the general public; experience working in a team on joint projects.
- Desirable education – Recent GCP training or qualification in research/clinical trials.
- Desirable experience – NHS and radiology department experience; teaching or training experience; experience organising meetings and events.
- Essential skills – Excellent organisation, oral and written communication, attention to detail, IT skills including Excel and PowerPoint; ability to communicate with patients sympathetically.
- Desirable skills – Experience in medical/clinical research, research governance, and project management.
