Responsibilities
  • Participate in the education and development of the nursing team, including appraisals, providing direct supervision, assessment of students and preceptorship of newly qualified nurses.
  • Demonstrate competencies and skills in conscious sedation, scrub nursing, recovery, ward assessment, pre‑assessment, discharge and nurse‑led discharge.
  • Assist in the delivery of training and development programmes and study days for staff and learners in practice.
  • Provide effective communication and appropriate escalation during unexpected events and situations involving conflict.
  • Demonstrate and educate on IPC protocol, promote a clean, safe working environment and manage risks as per trust policy.
  • Demonstrate UHCWi methodology, including waste management, improving patient experience and standard work.
  • Promote professionalism in clinical areas and appropriately raise concerns to management.
  • Act as a role model for excellence, empowering others through education and support.
  • Collaborate with other professional groups to maximise development opportunities and inter‑professional learning opportunities.
